Boards are increasingly monitoring their own performance - sometimes through the Chair and otherwise through the Nominations Committee.

An independent, structured questionnaire can identify areas of concern or gaps in evaluation that can lead to improved effectiveness and performance. This can be supported by confidential interviews with the individual Directors.

A further opportunity is to do a similar questionnaire by the Executive which, when compared with the Board results, can identify misunderstandings and areas for improvement.
