It is surprising how differently each Board sees its role and work. This is partly due to the difference between organisations and partly due to the different perceptions and experience of the Directors.
As surprisingly, the Executives of organisations see the roles and work of their Boards, and the sharing of work between the Executive and Board, quite differently.
Using the Work of the Board framework developed by Dennis McDonald and The Waypoint Group we ca facilitate both the Board and the Executive to clarify the Work of the Board and the interface with the Executive.
This sets up an ongoing dialogue that enables the work of the Board and the interface with the Executive to adapt and change with the needs of the organisation.
Once the work is agreed and clarified it becomes easier to determine what the appropriate structure and responsibility of Board Committees should be.
